What is CBD?
CBD is cannabidiol (can-a-bid-i-ol) found in the plant genus Cannabis Sativa L. CBD comprises up to 40% of the plant and is one of over 60 plus compounds found in cannabis. Of these compounds, CBD and THC are usually present in the highest concentrations, and are therefore the most recognised and studied. CBD is a non-psychoactive component of the plant that possesses a wide range of benefits and does not cause a high, unlike THC. Our bodies are made up of an endocannabinoid system and use cannabinoids to maintain healthy cells.

Will I get high?
No. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce a psychoactive effect (also known as a high). This is because CBD does not affect the same receptors that THC does.

What is the difference between hemp and marijuana?
Hemp and marijuana are both types of cannabis. Marijuana contains a cannabinoid known as THC, which causes a high and is known as a drug. Hemp contains negligible amounts of THC and is unlikely to cause a high.

What are the benefits of CBD?
CBD offers a holistic approach to promoting overall wellness, but we operate in a regulated industry, as such, are unable to make any claims for CBD. However, there is a huge resource of freely available information online which may better help explain the uses and increasing popularity of CBD.

What are phytocannabinoids?
Phytocannabinoids are active compounds produced by cannabis plants. They are non-psychoactive, meaning they do not create the high that THC products do. Phytocannabinoids work by interacting with receptors in our body’s natural endocannabinoid system that support balance and wellness.

What is broad-spectrum hemp oil?
Broad-spectrum hemp oil contains terpenes, flavonoids (plant colourings) and phytocannabinoids that contribute to synergistic benefits (known as the 'entourage effect'), without the psychoactive effects of THC.

What are terpenes?
These compounds are found in the hemp plant. They give cannabis strains their distinct aroma and ‘earthy’ flavour. Terpenes work in tandem with cannabinoids.

How do I know that Potyque products are pure?
All Potyque’s products are pure because our hemp sativa extract has been tested by Biogest and Bio Basic Europe during production, two of the most advanced analytical laboratories in Italy, ISO 9001 certified and ISO 17025 accredited, and again in the UK before sale by Adact Medical, Europe’s largest compliance agency.

How much CBD should I take?
The Food Standards Agency recommend a maximum daily dose of 70mg, so depending on which strength you choose to use, this will be 2-3 drops 2-3 times a day. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.

Is CBD legal in the UK?
It is entirely legal to buy and take CBD supplements in the UK. CBD containing less than 0.2% of THC is legal in the UK.

Will CBD show up on drug tests?
CBD itself would not report positive for marijuana or marijuana metabolites. If the CBD product contains THC at a sufficiently high concentration, it is possible, depending on usage patterns, that the use of these products could cause a positive urine drug test result for marijuana metabolites. It is best to use utmost caution and do your research when purchasing a quality CBD oil product to ensure its purity. CBD oil containing less than 0.2% THC should not affect drug test results.

Is CBD addictive?
CBD Oil is not addictive. An addiction to marijuana comes out of the individual’s reliance on the psychoactive consequences of THC (the ingredient which causes a high). CBD comes from a different plant - the hemp plant, which contains traces of THC but not enough to get a 'high'.

Are Potyque’s products safe for use by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding?
Pregnant or lactating women should not use CBD products. For more information, please consult your GP.
